In a recent report, The Mirror revealed that Arsenal are facing stiff competition for Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak. It is understood that the Gunners could face competition from Manchester United and Chelsea in pursuit of the Swedish striker in the summer.
Isak’s Good Form In Spanish Football This Season
Isak is having a decent campaign with the Spanish side as he has produced a run of impressive displays while acting as the focal point of their attack. The Solna-born talent has featured in 26 matches for Real Sociedad this season, netting eight goals and grabbing two goals in the process on all fronts.
The 22-year-old has caught the eye by averaging 2.1 shots and 1.4 dribbles per game in La Liga. He needs to distribute the ball a bit better in the final third, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 72.4% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Should Arsenal Step Up Their Pursuit Of Isak?
Isak can be a prolific goal-scorer in front of the opposition goal when he is playing at the top of his game. He excels at generating a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in at goal. The Swedish sensation can even time his runs well in behind the opponent’s backline. He can be a tricky striker for any defender to cope with, so Arsenal will do well to win the race to acquire his services during the summer transfer window.
At 22, Isak will only get better with each season which makes him a good choice for the Gunners to pursue in the summer. At the moment, the North London club are in dire need to recruit a new forward with both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah looking set to leave when their contracts run out at the end of this season.
We can expect the Sweden international to add a lot of goals to Mikel Arteta‘s attack. He could even serve as an ideal replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who joined Barcelona on deadline day, at the Emirates Stadium. Thus, it makes sense for Arteta to step up his pursuit of the Real Sociedad marksman when the transfer window reopens later this year.
