In a recent report, The Daily Mirror claimed that Arsenal are considering moving in for Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz this summer. However, it is understood that the Gunners could face competition in the form of Real Madrid and Barcelona in pursuit of the Spanish playmaker at the end of this campaign.
Ruiz’s Impressive Season In Italian Football So Far
Ruiz is having a decent campaign at Naples as he has been responsible for putting in a handful of influential displays in Italian football recently. The Spaniard has banged in five goals and grabbed four assists in 25 matches for Napoli this season across all fronts.
The 25-year-old has caught the eye by averaging 1.8 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 1.4 shots and 1.3 key passes per game in Serie A. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession from midfield after making 91.6% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Ruiz Bring To Arsenal?
Ruiz has got a wide range of passes in his locker and can set up some clear-cut chances for his teammates in the final third. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and is proficient at making some solid tackles to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park.
The Spanish talent doesn’t take any chances when clearing the danger inside his half and excels at retaining possession for his side.
A midfielder of Ruiz’s skillset will be a welcome addition to the Gunners squad this summer if Mikel Arteta can find a way to get him on board during the summer transfer period. At 25, the future is quite bright for the talented midfielder as he is about to embark upon the prime years of his career.
We can expect the Napoli star to bring a lot of quality to Arsenal‘s midfield department. Plus, he could go on to form a good midfield partnership with Thomas Partey at the Emirates Stadium in the coming seasons. With all things considered, Arteta would be wise to launch a move to lure Ruiz to the English capital when the transfer window commences later this year.
