In a recent report, Marca offered an update on the future of Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni amid interest from Chelsea recently. It is understood that the French club are demanding a fee between Є80m to Є100m for their prized asset with the Blues facing stiff competition from Real Madrid, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of the player.
Tchouameni’s Good Form In French Football This Season
The Rouen-born youngster is having an impressive campaign at Monaco as he has been responsible for putting in a series of dominant performances at the centre of Philippe Clement’s midfield. Tchouameni has found the back of the net twice and earned one assist in 31 appearances for the French outfit this season across all competitions.
The Rouen-born talent deserves a lot of credit for averaging 2.7 tackles, 2.7 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 1.5 shots and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Europa League. He has even been tidy when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 86.6% of his attempted passes in both those competitions (stats via whoscored).
Should Chelsea Move In For Tchouameni?
Tchouameni loves a tackle and can get stuck in with some solid challenges to win the ball back for his team. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and can anchor the midfield with conviction. The French whizkid is a powerful striker of the ball as well and can engineer a few promising chances for others around him.
The Monaco prospect is currently playing some of the best football of his young career. At 22, we can expect Tchouameni to only get better with each season.
Therefore, Chelsea should consider moving in for the French talent in the summer. However, it won’t be an easy deal for the Blues to get over the line based on Monaco’s price demands
Tchouameni will add more bite and steel to Tuchel’s midfield and could go on to become a future star at Stamford Bridge if the West London giants can devise a way to get him on board at the end of this campaign.
