Tottenham Hotspur entertained Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to pick up a positive result in front of their home supporters. Spurs made a poor start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 18th minute when Antonio Rudiger scored with a solid header. The North London outfit failed to come up with a response and were trailing 1-0 at half-time.
It was a similar story in the second half as Antonio Conte’s men crashed to a 1-0 defeat at home (3-0 on aggregate) which knocked them out of the Carabao Cup.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham player performed during the match against the Blues.
GK: Pierluigi Gollini – 6.5/10
He made a couple of saves during the game and was tidy with his passing.
RB: Emerson Royal – 6.5/10
The Spurs right-back was a threat going forward and did his fair share of defending inside his half.
CB: Davinson Sanchez – 7/10
Sanchez made a lot of crucial clearances at the back and made one key chance going forward.
CB: Japhet Tanganga – 6.5/10
Tanganga didn’t shy away from putting his foot through the ball when required and managed to engineer one good chance in the opposition half.
CB: Ben Davies – 6.5/10
He earned possession back a few times for his team but will be disappointed for conceding an early goal.
LB: Matt Doherty – 6/10
Doherty struggled to get into the rhythm of the game and got substituted after the hour mark.
CM: Giovani Lo Celso – 6.5/10
The Argentine midfield ace had a few bright moments in the final third but didn’t do enough to register a goal.
CM: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7/10
He protected his backline to the best of his ability and orchestrated one inviting opportunity in the final third.
CM: Harry Winks – 6/10
Winks earned the ball back a couple of times but offered very little in the opponent’s half.
ST: Harry Kane – 7/10
The English striker made a few clever runs with the ball and was always willing to have a strike at goal.
ST: Lucas Moura – 6/10
He had a couple of lively moments up top but didn’t get too many sniffs at goal.
Substitutes:
LB: Ryan Sessegnon – 6/10
Sessegnon kept things solid at the back.
LW: Bryan Gil – 6/10
He made one good chance in the attacking end of the field.
CM: Oliver Skipp – 6/10
Skipp offered very little after coming off the bench.
