The Athletic (subscription required) has recently reported that Tottenham Hotspur are planning to move in for Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski. It is understood that Spurs are working on sealing a loan deal with an obligation to buy the Swedish wide player this month.
Kulusevski’s Underwhelming Season In Italian Football This Season
Kulusevski is having an up and down campaign at the Turin club as he has struggled to find consistency with his performances in Italian football. The 21-year-old has been involved in 27 matches for the Italian outfit this season, scoring two goals and securing three assists in various competitions.
The Stockholm-born sensation has seen most of his appearances come as a substitute which could be why he is only averaging 0.9 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has been careful when distributing possession from midfield after completing 81.8% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
What Will Kulusevski Add To Tottenham Hotspur Boss Antonio Conte’s Side?
Kulusevski has got electric pace under his belt and can make a few impressive runs with the ball out on the wide areas. He is an excellent dribbler and can deliver some inviting crosses into the opponent’s penalty area.
The Swedish talent is a hard-working wide player who can score and create goals regularly when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. However, things have not quite worked out for him at the Allianz Stadium. Hence, Kulusevski would be wise to opt for a change of scenery this month in search of more first-team starts in the second half of this campaign.
Spurs need to make some quality acquisitions if they are to sustain their challenge for a top-four spot in the Premier League this season. Thus, it makes sense for Antonio Conte to engineer a move to bring Kulusevski to the English capital during this winter transfer window.
At 21, the Juve attacker has got a very bright future ahead of him and would add a lot of pace and some creativity to Conte’s attack if Tottenham can get a deal done for him this month.
