In a recent interview with Betting Odds, Glen Johnson has offered his thoughts on Bukayo Saka. The Arsenal attacker has been one of the star performers in the Premier League this season, attracting the headlines with his performances alongside fellow academy product Emile Smith Rowe.
In 20 league matches so far, Saka has been involved in ten goals, helping Arsenal return in contention for the top four places in the Premier League table. He has also been a crucial member of the England team, notably helping his nation reach the final of Euro 2020 in the summer.
As reported by Metro, Former England right-back Glen Johnson now believes it is time for Saka to take the next step in his career by joining a bigger club. He has suggested Liverpool as an ideal destination, even claiming that the player himself would be drawn to the move.
“I do think it would be a good move for Saka because any chance you get to sign for one of the best teams around, as a young player, it’s going to be appealing. I think the way that Liverpool play will suit him down to the ground.”, he told BettingOdds.com.
Johnson, who had played 200 matches for Liverpool, did acknowledge that Saka might cost a fortune for Liverpool and striking a deal might be difficult even if they are able to meet the financial demands of Arsenal.
“I do think it’ll be an expensive transfer to pull off because Arsenal wouldn’t want to sell one of their best players to a rival. As he’s a fantastic player, a young player and English then it would have to be a big deal. In terms of Liverpool and the player being interested in a move then I believe that for sure but I just think it would be quite a complex deal to pull off.”, said the 37-year-old.
Liverpool are currently in the market for attacking reinforcements as Jurgen Klopp looks to replace Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, who are both competing in the Africa Cup of Nations. Mane has recently attracted the headlines with a sensational last-minute winner in Segenal’s opening game against Zimbabwe.
