In a recent report, Marca stated that Real Madrid are stepping up their pursuit of AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. It is understood that Los Blancos are keen on bringing the French talent to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium at the end of this season.
Tchouameni’s Impressive Form In Ligue 1 This Season
Tchouameni has enjoyed a solid campaign in French football thus far after putting in a run of impressive displays at the heart of Monaco’s midfield. The 22-year-old has registered two goals and one assist in 31 matches for the French club this season in multiple competitions.
The Rouen-born talent has anchored the midfield relatively well as he is averaging 2.7 tackles, 2.7 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 1.5 shots and 1.1 dribbles per game in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Europa League. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from midfield, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 86.6% in both those competitions (stats via whoscored).
Should Real Madrid Get Tchouameni On Board?
Tchouameni is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back at the centre of the park. He usually clears the danger when needed and can offer decent protection for his teammates at the back. He can strike the ball purely and with power from long range and is also proficient at setting up a few decent chances for others around him in the opponent’s half.
An up-and-coming midfielder like Tchouameni will be a good option for Los Blancos to pursue in the summer. He has got what it takes to serve as an ideal successor to Luka Modric, who is entering the twilight years of his playing carer, at the Madrid club in the long run.
We can expect Tchouameni to add more bite and steel to Carlo Ancelotti‘s midfield department. Thus, it makes sense for the Madrid giants to get the Monaco midfield ace on board during the summer transfer period as he could help them remain dominant in Spanish football and also challenge for the UEFA Champions League trophy over the next decade.
