If a report from the Daily Mail (as quoted by the Daily Record) is believed to be true, Rangers are eyeing a double swoop for Andreas Skov Olsen and Crysencio Summerville. Gio van Bronckhorst is keen on the pair who have been on the Gers’ radar for quite some time.
Olsen progressed through the youth ranks of Nordsjælland before joining Bologna in the summer of 2019. However, the Denmark international has been utilized sporadically by gaffer Siniša Mihajlović and the majority of his Serie A appearances have been as a substitute so far this campaign. He has registered a couple of assists in 16 league outings and a transfer to Rangers should see him leaving for a fresh start in new surroundings.
Summerville, on the other hand, joined Leeds from Feyenoord back in September 2020. The 20-year-old finally earned his senior debut earlier this season and went on to make five Premier League appearances as a substitute. The young Dutchman has shown his spark down the wide but is way down the pecking order behind the likes of Raphinha, Jack Harrison, Tyler Roberts and Daniel James. He only had his minutes due to injuries to first-team stars and a winter loan might help him flourish his skills with regular football.
Why Rangers Should Strengthen Themselves Down The Right
Rangers, meanwhile, have ample wide attacking options in their ranks. Ryan Kent is there to feature from the left, whereas both Fashion Sakala and Scott Wright have done enough to cover for the Englishman. Having said that, the Light Blues require more quality down the right to challenge Ianis Hagi and the arrival of the rumoured duo would inject more firepower high up the pitch.
Although Joe Aribo has been exquisite as a right-sided midfielder, the Gers have a few fringe stars who need to be offloaded in the forthcoming future. Brandon Barker does not have a future at Ibrox, also both Glenn Middleton and Jake Hastie have been roaming on loan for a while after failing to stake a claim in first-team plans.
The reigning Scottish champions have maintained a firm six-point lead but, at the same time, are being pushed by bitter rivals Celtic at the top of the Premiership standings. The Hoops have already bolstered themselves with three new signings as they are determined to reclaim the Premiership crown knocking the Gers off the perch by the closure of the current term.
