Manchester United faced off against Aston Villa at Villa Park earlier this evening as they looked to pick up maximum points on the road. The Red Devils made a great start to the game as they got their noses ahead in the sixth minute courtesy of Bruno Fernandes’ goal. Ralf Rangnick’s men sat on their lead well and went into the half-time interval 1-0 up on the scoreline.
It was Fernandes who stuck again for Man United in the 67th minute when he found the back of the net with a powerful finish. However, Jacob Ramsey got a goal back for the Villans just ten minutes later before Philippe Coutinho netted the equaliser with a neat finish from close range. The contest ended with the Red Devils being held to a 2-2 draw at Villa Park.
Let’s take a look at how each Man United player performed during the contest against the Villans.
GK: David de Gea – 7/10
The Spaniard made a few important saves to keep the scoreline down for his side. He also made a solid clearance but was woeful with his passing.
RB: Diogo Dalot – 6.5/10
Dalot defended his penalty box well for most of the game and engineered two good chances in the final third.
CB: Victor Lindelof – 6.5/10
He made several last-gasp clearances and did enough to limit the Villans from scoring more than twice.
CB: Raphael Varane – 6.5/10
The French defender cleared the danger when needed and won the ball back a couple of times for his side.
LB: Alex Telles – 7/10
He had a couple of nervy moments at the back and was quite lively going forward. Telles has got an assist to show for his efforts.
CM: Fred – 7/10
The Brazilian sensation worked hard at both ends of the pitch and ended the game with an assist to his name.
CM: Nemanja Matic – 6.5/10
Matic’s lack of pace was exploited at times. However, he still produced a battling display at the centre of the park.
RW: Mason Greenwood – 6.5/10
He made a couple of bright runs with the ball but failed to take any of his chances in front of the opposition goal.
CAM: Bruno Fernandes – 8/10
Fernandes capitalised on two mistakes to score twice for Man United during the game. He ran out of gas and got replaced in the second half.
LW: Anthony Elanga – 7/10
He caused a few headaches for the opposition but failed to register a goal.
ST: Edison Cavani – 6/10
Cavani hardly got a sniff at goal and was an isolated figure in the final third for most of the game.
Substitutes:
LW: Jadon Sancho – 6/10
He offered very little after coming off the bench.
CAM: Jesse Lingard – N/A
The English talent didn’t get enough minutes to warrant a rating.
CM: Donny van de Beek – N/A
He hardly had any time to make an impact.
