Manchester United face Brentford at the Brentford Community Stadium on Wednesday in search of a win to keep the hopes of a top-four finish alive after failing to win their last 2 league games. The Red Devils currently sit 7th in the table with 32 points after 20 games played, 3 points behind Arsenal and only 1 above Wolves. Manchester United will be desperate for a win on Wednesday as any further hiccup will see the Red Devils fall behind even more in a race for the top-four in the Premier League. Brentford have lost their last two league games heavily conceding 7 goals as Manchester United will see this as an opportunity to get back to winning ways.
4-2-2-2 Manchester United Predicted Lineup Vs Aston Villa
Defence
David De Gea will continue between the sticks for the Red Devils aiming to keep a cleansheet after failing to keep one in the last 4 league games.
Harry Maguire is expected to come back in the starting XI replacing Victor Lindelof and start at the heart of the defence alongside Raphael Varane. The Red Devils have been sub-par defensively this season conceding 29 goals in the league and keeping only 4 cleansheets in 20 games. Phil Jones will be on the bench to provide the defensive cover.
Luke Shaw is also expected to return to the starting lineup replacing Alex Telles at left full-back. Aaron Wan Bissaka is out of the tie after being tested positive for Covid-19 and hence Diogo Dalot will continue to start at right full-back.
Midfield
Ralph Rangnick will opt for a midfield duo of Scott Mctominay and Fred in the middle of the park hoping for Fred to help the defence out and Mctominay to win duels in the centre of the pitch and initiate attacks. The midfield battle will be key as Manchester United will look to dominate the ball and keep possession in order to break the deep defensive line of Brentford. Nemanja Matic will drop to the bench for this clash.
After scoring 2 goals in the weekend, Bruno Fernandes remains a sure-shot starter for the Red Devils in the attacking midfield position. His creative ability will be key to Manchester United coming out with a result on Wednesday. Mason Greenwood will also take up the other wide attacking midfield role after his impressive performance in the last game. Both Donny Van De Beek and Jesse Lingard will still have to wait for their chances to crack into the starting lineup.
Attack
Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford will be missing the tie with injuries on Wednesday. Jadon Sancho is expected to replace Anthony Elanga in the attack and start alongside Edinson Cavani. Cavani will be looking to increase his goal-scoring tally for the Red Devils while Sancho will look to put up a strong performance in order to secure his place in the starting lineup.
