In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Liverpool are inching closer to sealing a late move for FC Porto winger Luis Diaz during this January transfer window. It is understood that the Reds are planning for a medical in South America after launching an offer worth around €40m plus €25m in bonuses for the Colombia international.

Diaz’s Outstanding Form In Portuguese Football This Season
Diaz is having the best campaign of his playing career at the Estádio do Dragão after putting in a series of impressive displays as a key member of Porto’s attack. The Barrancas-born talent has banged in 16 goals and picked up six assists in 28 matches for the Portuguese giants this season in all competitions.
The 25-year-old has given a good account of himself in the attacking end of the field as he is averaging 3.5 shots, 2.2 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per game in the Liga Bwin. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from the left flank after making 81.9% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Portuguese football (stats via whoscored).

Is Diaz A Good Fit For Liverpool?
Diaz is a quick and agile winger who can make some penetrative runs with the ball in the final third. He has got the vision to pick out a killer pass while floating in and around the opposition penalty box. The 31-time Colombia international has also added plenty of goals and assists to his game this season which could be why Liverpool have decided to move in for him this month rather than wait until the end of this campaign.
Diaz is playing at the top of his game and ticks all the right boxes in terms of what Jurgen Klopp demands from his attacking players. The Porto star has got the skillset to become a real fan-favourite at Anfield over the next few years.
The Colombian sensation is good enough to rival Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota for a regular starting spot in Klopp’s first team. With all things considered, Diaz seems like an excellent for Liverpool this winter as he could help the Merseyside outfit compete for multiple trophies in the coming seasons.
