In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, transfer insider Dean Jones revealed that Liverpool are hoping to seal a move for Fulham playmaker Fabio Carvalho this month. Jones said,
“I’m starting to hear whispers that Liverpool might push forward their interest in Fabio Carvalho to this window. Their interest has definitely turned his head.”
Carvalho’s Impressive Form At The English Capital This Season
Carvalho is having a terrific campaign at Craven Cottage as he has been responsible for putting in a run of eye-catching performances for Fulham in the opponent’s half. The 19-year-old has found the back of the net on seven occasions and grabbed three assists in 18 matches for Marco Silva’s team this season on all fronts.
The talented teenager has proven himself to be one of the most influential members of the Cottagers’ starting XI by averaging 2.1 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the EFL Championship. He has even taken care of the ball well when distributing possession in the final third after completing 80.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Carvalho A Good Fit For Liverpool?
Carvalho is a technically gifted footballer who can use his quickness to make some dangerous runs with the ball towards the opposition penalty box. He has got the vision to play a killer pass in the attacking end of the field. The English prospect has done well to contribute by scoring a handful of important goals for his side. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if needed.
An attacker of Carvalho’s potential will be a decent option for the Reds to consider this month. He looks like a gem in the making, so Jurgen Klopp should think about engineering a move to bring him to Anfield before Monday’s transfer deadline.
We can expect the Fulham whizkid to add more goals and creativity to Liverpool‘s attack. Furthermore, Carvalho could serve as an ideal long-term successor to Roberto Firmino, who turned 30 last October, at the Merseyside club. His attributes will also suit Klopp’s Gegen pressing playing style which makes the player a good fit for the Reds to pursue during this January transfer period.
