Liverpool have announced on their official website that they have completed the capture of Luis Diaz from FC Porto. The Colombian international has put pen to paper on a long-term contract with the Reds.
Diaz’s Excellent Numbers At The Estádio do Dragão
Diaz has experienced an outstanding campaign in Portuguese football after producing a series of match-winning performances on the left side of Porto’s attack. The 25-year-old has banged in 16 goals and secured six assists in 28 matches for the Portuguese club this season across all fronts.
The Barrancas-born sensation has given a good account of himself in the final third as he is averaging 3.5 shots, 2.2 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Liga Bwin. He has even been tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 81.9% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Diaz Bring To Liverpool?
Diaz is blessed with electric pace and can complete some dangerous dribbles with the ball down the left flank. He has got the vision to play a killer pass in the attacking end of the field and can also contribute by scoring plenty of goals up top.
The Colombia international is a player on the rise who would bring more pace and goals to Jurgen Klopp‘s attack. He is currently playing at a high level and is well-equipped to offer some serious competition for Sadio Mane at Anfield in the coming seasons.
At 25, Diaz is about to enter his prime and will be expected to make an immediate impact at Merseyside now that he has penned a long-term deal with the Reds.
Klopp could be the ideal man to get the best out of Diaz as long as the player can maintain his high standards in Premier League football.
The Colombian wide player has got what it takes to help Liverpool win even more trophies and could become a real fan-favorite at the Merseyside club over the next few years. Thus, the Reds have done well to seal a move for Diaz this winter.
