In a recent report, The Daily Mail stated that Leeds United are eyeing a move for Norwich City winger Todd Cantwell. It has been revealed that the English wide player is one of the names in Marcelo Bielsa’s list of targets for this January transfer window.
Cantwell’s Frustrating Season At Carrow Road Thus Far
Cantwell has experienced a difficult campaign with the Canaries after missing a lot of games for them in the Premier League so far. The 23-year-old has only featured in eight matches for Norwich this season, securing one yellow card in all competitions.
The Dereham-born talent has struggled to find consistency in the limited playing minutes he has received as he is averaging 1.9 tackles, 0.6 shots and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Cantwell Add To Leeds United Boss Marcelo Bielsa’s Team?
Cantwell has got decent pace in his locker and can complete some dangerous dribbles out on the wide areas when he is playing well on the pitch. He has previously shown that he can score a few important goals for his team in the final third. However, the English sensation is still waiting to open his goal-scoring account for this campaign. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but can even fill in as an attacking midfielder down the middle or function as a winger on the right flank if required.
However, there are some concerns over whether Cantwell can play his best football at Elland Road if Marcelo Bielsa decides to move in for him before the end of this winter transfer period.
At 23, the Dereham-born wing wizard has still got plenty of time to turn his career around for the better in English football. Bielsa has a wealth of experience at developing young talents and could potentially unlock the best out of Cantwell in the coming seasons.
We can expect the Norwich star to add some much-needed depth to Leeds‘ attack. Plus, he could even help the Whites move up the league table and get themselves out of the relegation zone as he will be surrounded with better players around him at the West Yorkshire club.
