Il Mattino has recently reported that Everton are willing to loan Allan out this January. It is believed that the Toffees are willing to let the Brazilian midfield ace leave on loan with Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri eyeing him as a replacement for Luis Alberto.
Allan’s Impressive Form Despite Everton’s Recent Struggles
Allan has been a regular feature in Rafael Benitez’s starting XI during this campaign but has struggled to help his team be consistent in terms of getting results in the Premier League. The 31-year-old has made 17 appearances for the Merseyside club this season, picking up two assists and two yellow cards across all competitions.
The Rio de Janeiro-born sensation deserves a lot of credit for averaging 2.8 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 0.7 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball with conviction after completing 77.8% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Everton Open To Letting Allan Leave On Loan: Is Benitez Making The Right Call?
Allan is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his side at the centre of the park. He is usually quick to spot the danger and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.
The Brazilian talent can anchor the midfield quite well and is a neat passer of the ball as well. However, at 31, he has only got a handful of years left in him to play at a high level.
Still, Everton would be better off keeping hold of him for the rest of this campaign as he remains an integral member of Rafael Benitez‘s starting XI. Allan can definitely help the Toffees turn their fortunes around for the better over the next few months.
The South American midfield ace’s current contract at the Merseyside club is set to expire in the summer of 2023, so there is no immediate need for Benitez to let him go unless he is making room in his squad for some new acquisitions this month.
