Everton locked horns with Norwich City at Carrow Road earlier today as they hoped to turn their fortunes around for the better by picking up a positive result on the road. The Toffees made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the 16th minute when Michael Keane scored an unfortunate own goal. Adam Idah doubled the home side’s advantage just two minutes later with a calm finish. However, the Merseyside club failed to come up with a response and went into the half-time break 2-0 down on the scoreline.
Richarlison got a goal back for Everton with a brilliant acrobatic attempt in the 60th minute. However, it only turned out to be a consolation as the Toffees ended up losing the contest by a 2-1 scoreline.
Let’s take a look at how each Everton player performed during the clash against the Canaries.
GK: Jordan Pickford – 5.5/10
The English keeper made one good save during the game but won’t be pleased after conceding two goals inside the first 20 minutes of the contest.
RB: Seamus Coleman – 6/10
He tried to keep things solid at the back but lost concentration at times in the first half. However, Coleman engineered one key chance before getting replaced in the 53rd minute.
CB: Ben Godfrey – 7/10
Godfrey made several important clearances during the game and got stuck in with some solid tackles as well. He even created two inviting chances for his teammates to score.
CB: Michael Keane – 5/10
The English centre-back scored an unfortunate own goal which put his team in the backfoot. He conceded another goal soon after his mistake in what turned out to be a frustrating day on the road.
LB: Vitaliy Mykolenko – 7/10
He cleared the danger multiple times and also pulled off a few interceptions for his team. Mykolenko was also quite bright and inventive in the Norwich half.
RM: Anthony Gordon – 6/10
Gordon had a couple of lively moments down the right flank but offered very little in front of the opponent’s goal.
CM: Abdoulaye Doucoure – 6.5/10
He made a couple of solid tackles and completed two good dribbles from midfield.
CM: Andre Gomes – 6.5/10
The Portuguese talent made a few tackles when needed and was always willing to run with the ball.
LM: Demarai Gray – 7/10
Gray was a constant menace in the final third because of his pace and link-up play. However, there was no goal for him today.
ST: Salomon Rondon – 6/10
Rondon never looked like he had a goal in him and got substituted early in the second half.
ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 6/10
The English marksman got back to defend when required but struggled to threaten the Norwich goal.
Substitutes:
ST: Richarlison – 7.5/10
The Brazilian attacker made two good runs with the ball and scored with a wonderful acrobatic finish at the hour mark.
CB: Yerry Mina – 6/10
He kept things solid at the back after coming off the bench.
