Tottenham Hotspur clash heads with League 1 side Morecambe in the FA Cup 3rd round game at the Tottenham Hotspurs stadium on Sunday. Antonio Conte would hope from his team to bounce back with a win on Sunday after a poor 2-0 midweek loss against city rivals Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-finals first leg. Spurs have last won the competition back in 1991 and will be desperate to go against all odds and win it this time around.
Predicted 3-4-2-1 Tottenham Hotspur Lineup Vs Morecambe
Defence
The Italian shot-stopper Pierluigi Gollini will be starting between the sticks with major rotations expected from Conte replacing skipper Hugo Lloris.
Japhet Tanganga is expected to get his second consecutive start in this one alongside Joe Rodon who has just played 78 minutes of Premier League football this season at the heart of the defence. Tobi Omole might be in contention for a senior debut after his strong showings in the U-23s and play as a 3rd CB on Sunday.
The likes of Ben Davies and Davinson Sanchez will be on the bench, getting rest ahead of their crucial 2nd leg tie vs Chelsea next week. Eric Dier will be missing this game after testing positive for Covid-19.
Midfield
A pairing of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso is expected to start in the middle of the park providing some much-needed rest to the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp for the Chelsea game.
Matt Doherty will start at RWB in place of Emerson Royal who has nailed his spot under Conte and Ryan Sessegnon is expected to be back from the injury he sustained which kept him out and start at LWB.
Attack
The trio of Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura has been impressive under Conte so far but all three are expected to fall under rotation for the tie on Sunday. Bryan Gil, who has shown glimpses of his talent, will get the opportunity to take matters into his own hand when he starts up front alongside Dele Alli, who will also look to catch the manager’s eye.
Dane Scarlett, the highly-rated 17-year-old is in contention to lead the Spurs attack as he will be eagerly waiting to grab the opportunity with both hands if it at all arrives.
