According to a recent report by Football Insider, we have an update that Aston Villa centre-back Kortney Hause is interested in rejoining West Ham United after talks were held between both the clubs. The Hammers are currently missing a few of their key defenders in the likes of Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma due to injuries and therefore are in search of a central defender in this transfer window to compete on all fronts both in the league and in Europe. The English centre-back has his contract ending at Villa in the summer of 2022 and is believed to be keen on making a return to his former club.
Kortney Hause Not The First Choice At Aston Villa
Kortney Hause’s loan deal at Aston Villa was made permanent in the summer of 2019 after his impressive performances that season. However, after his first season at Villa Park, the Englishman’s gametime has significantly reduced with the arrival of Ezri Konsa at the heart of the Villa defence. Hause started only 7 league games in 2020-21 and even this season the story has remained the same with the 26-year-old having made only 5 appearances in the league under Steven Gerrard.
Kortney Hause’s contract will be coming to an end in the summer of 2022 and it is believed that he is keen on re-joining the Hammers in search of regular gametime. However, Villa have the option to trigger a one-year extension in his contract but selling the player off for a generous fee right now seems to be a win-win situation for both clubs.
Should West Ham United Make A Move For Kortney Hause?
David Moyes is currently having to deal with an injury crisis in his defensive department with both senior centre-backs Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma out with injuries. While Ogbonna is suffering from a long term ligament injury, Zouma will also take time to return from his hamstring problem and hence defensive reinforcements must be made by David Moyes to compete for a top-four spot in the Premier League.
Kortney Hause is a tall versatile defender who can play as a centre half and as well as a left full-back when needed. He is very strong in the air and is dangerous around the box in dead-ball situations. The Englishman also has great composure in one-on-one situations and has a great sense of defensive awareness. Now it remains to be seen if the Hammers move on and make an offer for Hause or not.
