In a recent report, Tuttosport stated that Arsenal are willing to land Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo on loan this month. It is understood that the Gunners are working on reaching an 18-month loan agreement with the Brazilian midfielder’s agent, Federico Pastorello.
Arthur’s Limited Role At Turin This Season
Arthur has found game time hard to come by at the Allianz Stadium during this campaign as he has often had to settle for a spot on the bench. The 25-year-old has picked up one assist and three yellow cards in 14 matches for Juve this season across multiple competitions.
The Brazilian sensation has made most of his appearances as a substitute which explains why he is only averaging 1.0 tackles, 0.4 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, Arthur has taken care of the ball well when distributing possession from midfield after completing 88.8% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

Is Arthur Melo A Good Option For Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta?
Arthur is an excellent dribbler with the ball at his feet when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. He has got the vision to pick out a killer pass in the opposition half and can get stuck in with a few solid tackles to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. The South American talent can retain possession with conviction in midfield and is a powerful striker of the ball.
At 25, Arthur’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a good option for Arsenal to consider during this winter transfer window even if it means signing him on an 18-month loan deal.
The Brazil international will add more energy and dynamism to Mikel Arteta‘s midfield and could help the Gunners secure a place in the Premier League’s top-four this season. He could even go on to strike up a dominant midfield partnership with someone like Thomas Partey at the Emirates Stadium over the next 18 months. With all things considered, Arteta should try everything in his power to get Arthur on board before the end of this month.
