Wilson To Lead The Line | 4-2-3-1 Predicted Newcastle United Lineup Vs Leicester City

Newcastle United face Leicester City in this weekend’s Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium on Sunday. Eddie Howe’s men tasted their first victory in the league last weekend when they edged out a 1-0 win over Burnley at home. The Magpies are still placed 19th in the league table and will need to rack up some points to get out of the relegation zone. With the Foxes currently on a poor run of form, Newcastle United will certainly fancy their chances to get all 3 points on Sunday.

4-2-3-1 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Leicester City

Defence

Martin Dubravka will continue between the sticks after helping the magpies secure their first cleansheet of the season last week. Dubravka’s return from injury has been a massive boost for Eddie Howe in this festive season where the games come thick and fast.

Fabian Schar and Jamaal Lascelles will start at the heart of the defence with a tough job ahead of them to keep the league’s 2nd top scorer Jamie Vardy at check. Federico Fernandez will cover for the defence on the bench along with Jacob Murphy and Matt Richie.

Javier Manquillo will start in the right full-back position and Jamal Lewis in the left full-back position and their main job will be to contain the Leicester City wingers by not giving them much space to work with.

Midfield

Jonjo Shelvey and Joseph Willock have been the go-to option for Eddie Howe in the middle of the park. It’s a balanced midfield pair on paper as Shelvey is someone who can control the tempo of the game and open up defences with his passing and Willock likes to progress the ball with his dribbling and can also score from distances.

According to Eddie Howe, he expects Ryan Fraser to recover from his hamstring injury before the game on Sunday but is most likely to be on the bench. Miguel Almiron will keep his place in the right flank along with Allan Saint-Maximin on the left. Saint-Maximin’s pace and dribbling will be key to
the Magpies’ build-up play. Joelinton will start behind the striker in an attacking midfield position where he would like to use his strength and win as many 2nd balls as possible.

Isaac Hayden, Jeff Hendrick and Sean Longstaff will be the options from the bench for Eddie Howe to bring on in the later stages of the game.

Attack

Newcastle’s top scorer Callum Wilson will lead the attack from the front. Wilson has 6 goals in his name in the league and has scored in the last 2 games for the Magpies. He will need to keep up his form in order to help Newcastle climb up the league table.
