In a recent report, Le10Sport has claimed that West Ham United are among clubs hoping to sign Clermont striker Mohamed Bayo. It has been mentioned that the Hammers are not afraid to pay €20m to acquire the services of the Guinea international.
Bayo’s Decent Goal-Scoring Record In French Football This Season
The 23-year-old has made an impressive start to this campaign after producing a handful of productive displays as the spearhead of Clermont’s attack. Bayo has banged in eight goals and grabbed two assists in 16 appearances for the French club this season across all fronts.
Bayo has been a consistent performer in the attacking end of the field as he is averaging 2.3 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Ligue 1. However, he has been a bit sloppy with his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 74.3% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Bayo A Good Choice For West Ham United Boss David Moyes?
Bayo is a moderately paced forward who can make some encouraging runs with the ball in the final third. He can get himself into some dangerous areas in and around the opponent’s penalty box and is slowly developing himself into a decent finisher up top.
However, the five-time Guinea international needs to work on improving his link-up play if he wants to prove his worth at the highest level. At 23, Bayo has got a bright future ahead of him, so West Ham would be wise to orchestrate a move to bring him to the London Stadium this January or at the end of this campaign.
We can expect the Clermont star to add some much-needed cover for Michail Antonio at the East London club. Plus, he will bring some goals to David Moyes’ attack and could even help the Hammers challenge for a major trophy or two in the coming seasons. All in all, Bayo will be a brilliant choice for West Ham to consider next year as long as they can land him for a fair price.
