In a recent report, SportMediaSet stated that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a loan move for Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski during the January transfer window. It has been claimed that Spurs will have to compete with Arsenal in the race to recruit the Swedish wide player this winter.
Kulusevski’s Unimpressive Campaign At The Allianz Stadium
The 21-year-old has managed to make himself a useful player in Juventus’ squad but has struggled to find consistency with his performances this season. Kulusevski has participated in 19 matches for the Turin club during this campaign, finding the back of the net once and grabbing two assists in all competitions.
The Sweden international has seen most of his playing minutes come as a substitute which could be why he is only averaging 1.0 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in Serie A. However, he has taken care of the ball well when interchanging possession with his teammates from the right flank, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 84.2% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Is Kulusevski A Good Fit For Tottenham Hotspur Manager Antonio Conte?
Kulusevski is a quick and agile winger who can make some driving runs with the ball on the right wing. He can make a few decent openings for his teammates in the attacking end of the field. The Swedish talent can also score the odd goal from time to time but is in dire need to improve his productivity in front of the opponent’s goal.
At the moment, Kulusevski is not earning regular first-team starts at the Allianz Stadium, so it makes sense for the player to opt for a change of scenery on loan in January with Spurs an ideal destination for someone of his talents.
The 20-time Sweden international will have a far better shot at earning regular playing opportunities under Antonio Conte‘s stewardship at Tottenham Hotspur in the second half of this campaign. We can expect him to add a lot of quality to Spurs‘ frontline and bring some healthy competition for Lucas Moura. Therefore, Kulusevski will be a good fit for the North London side as he could help them challenge for a top-four place in the Premier League this season.
