Everton will face Arsenal at the Goodison Park on Monday hoping to end their dismal run of no wins in eight games in the Premier League. The Toffees have lost the last 6 of their 7 league games as they currently find themselves 14th in the Premier League table. The humiliating defeat against city rivals Liverpool in the midweek will do no good to their confidence as they face Arsenal, a side currently 5th in the table. Rafael Benitez will aim for nothing other than three points this week as he needs his players to turn things around as quick as possible and get back to winning ways.
Predicted Everton Lineup Vs Arsenal
Defence
Rafael Benitez will be missing Yerry Mina who is out with a long term injury in the heart of the defence. The defensive pair of Ben Godfrey and Micheal Keane is expected to again get the nod as they hope to put in a solid display this time around. Mason Holgate will return from his suspension on the bench to provide cover.
Seamus Coleman had a disappointing outing last time around against Liverpool but should keep his place at the right full back position. However, it will be a huge task for him to keep the in-form Emile Smith-Rowe at bay for 90 minutes. Lucas Digne will be given more freedom on the left flank to make overlapping run and deliver crosses into the box for the Everton attackers to score from.
Jordan Pickford will start between the sticks aiming for a rare cleansheet.
Midfield
Abdoulaye Doucoure’s return from injury will be a massive boost for the Everton boss as he has been key to the Toffees’ brilliant start to the season. Allan will partner Doucoure in the middle of the park to form a solid midfield pair in order to control the game against an inexperienced Arsenal midfield. With the likes of Andre Gomes and Tom Davies injured, the only option from the bench will be Fabian Delph.
Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend will start from the wings as they will look to use their electric pace to get behind the Arsenal defence. Both Townsend and Gray has shown good finishing ability and Benitez will be expecting the same from them to hurt Arsenal on Monday.
Attack
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin out injured, the onus will be on Richarlison to produce the goods up front for the Toffees. He will be hoping to break his barren goalscoring run in a while when they face the Gunners. Youngster Kaide Gordon is expected to replace Rondon who suffered a hamstring injury vs Liverpool last week.
Alex Iwobi and Cenk Tosun will be Benitez’s option to use from the bench to make an impact in the later stages of the game.
