In a recent interview with Football Insider, former West Ham United player Frank McAvennie has urged Liverpool to move in for Borrusia Dortmund playmaker Jude Bellingham. McAvennie said,
“Listen, we know how good this kid is.
“I think we all know he is going to come back to the Premier League as well.
“It was the same with Sancho, we all knew he was coming back. So now it’s all about who can sign him.
“Bellingham will cost god knows how much, based on what I have seen he is absolutely worth it.
“We’re talking about an established England player and he’s still just a kid.
“They say you can’t buy that kind of experience at that age, let me tell you, you can.
“It will be a massive fee, we’re talking £100million or more. Do I see Liverpool doing that?
“I’m not sure if they will but they absolutely should.”
Bellingham’s Impressive Numbers In German Football
Bellingham is having another impressive campaign in the Bundesliga after producing a run of eye-catching displays as a key member of Dortmund’s midfield. The 18-year-old has banged in three goals and provided nine assists in 24 appearances for the German side this season on all fronts.
The talented teenager has been a consistent performer at the heart of Marco Rose’s midfield as he is averaging 1.4 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 1.6 shots, 1.3 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession from midfield, based on his pass success rate of 83.7% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Will Bellingham Be A Dream Option For Liverpool?
Bellingham can do a little bit of everything at the centre of the park. He is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side.
The ten-time England international doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can even strike the ball with power and precision from long range. He is proficient at engineering a few clear-cut chances for others around him and can complete some promising dribbles with the ball in the opposition half.
At 18, Bellingham has shown great maturity and is currently one of Dortmund’s best players. Thus, Liverpool would be wise to listen to McAvennie’s advice by orchestrating a big-money move to land the English wonderkid next year.
Bellingham could serve as an excellent long-term successor to Jordan Henderson at Anfield and is already good enough to help the Reds win even more trophies in the coming seasons. With all things considered, the Dortmund star will be a dream option for Jurgen Klopp to pursue at the end of this season.
