According to El Nacional, Liverpool have emerged as the frontrunner in the race to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri. The Reds are ready to rival Real Madrid and Manchester City in the pursuit of the Wolves wingback, who is expected to leave Molineux in the upcoming January transfer window. Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a keen admirer of his talents and his team is willing to lure his services by offering him a lucrative contract offer.
Rayan Ait-Nouri’s Rapid Rise To Prominence
Rayan Ait-Nouri has become an overnight success since his move to Premier League last summer. The defender initially joined Wolves on a season-long loan deal, but after 21 matches in his debut campaign in England, the West Midlands outfit secured his services permanently, for a fee of around €11 million.
During his ongoing 18-month spell in England, Ait-Nouri has made a name for himself with his technical prowess and speed that has made him an asset in the left-wing position. Indeed, the youngster is proficient with his crosses while also boasting the ability to rotate possession quickly in the final third.
In addition to his attacking prowess, the Frenchman offers solidity in defence as well, making him one of the most in-demand youngsters in the Premier League. Ait-Nouri has already been an ever-present figure in Bruno Lage’s setup this season, and it is only a matter of time before he takes the next step in his career.
Is Liverpool An Ideal Destination?
Liverpool’s interest in Rayan Ait-Nouri stems from the club’s lack of alternatives for Andrew Robertson. While Kostas Tsimikas has done a good job, it appears Jurgen Klopp is keen on bolstering his options on the left flank.
Ait-Nouri fits the bill well due to his technical ability and capability to create chances in the final third. It seems the Frenchman is being considered as not only a backup for Robertson but also a potential competitor for attacking players such as Sadio Mane.
His January addition, therefore, could make sense, especially with Liverpool expected to lose Mane and Mohamed Salah for a chunk of early 2022 due to AFCON.
At the age of just 20, the Wolves starlet has time on his side as well, potentially making him a smart long-term investment for the Merseyside giants.
