In a recent report, The Sun mentioned that Leeds United are eyeing a January move for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie. It has been claimed that the Whites have identified the United States international, who could be available for around £20m, as a target for the winter transfer window.
McKennie’s Growing Influence At The Allianz Stadium This Season
The 23-year-old has played a useful role for Juventus this season and has managed to produce some dominant displays at the heart of their midfield. McKennie has been involved in 17 matches for the Italian club during this campaign, scoring two goals and picking up one yellow card in all competitions.
The Texas-born talent has given a good account of himself by averaging 1.2 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.0 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from midfield after making 75.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).

Should Leeds United Boss Marcelo Bielsa Move In For McKennie?
McKennie can do a little bit of everything at the centre of the park as he is a solid tackler of the ball and can earn the ball back for his team in midfield. He is not shy of having a strike at goal and can even create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third when he is playing well on the field.
The 28-time United States international can even make some clever runs with the ball in the opponent’s half but needs to add some assists to his game. Plus, he has to figure out a way to be more accurate with his passing if he wants to prove his worth in Premier League football.
At the moment, Leeds United are languishing in 16th place of the league table, so a player of McKennie’s quality could help them get out of relegation danger in the second half of this campaign. Thus, Marcelo Bielsa would be wise to move in for the Juve midfield ace during the January transfer window as he will add a lot of quality to his midfield department at Elland Road.
