In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Leeds United are keeping tabs on Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez. It has been mentioned that the Whites could face competition in the form of Napoli, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of the Uruguayan talent.
Nandez’ Solid Season In Italian Football
The 25-year-old is having an impressive campaign in Italian football and has been responsible for putting in a series of solid performances on the right side of Cagliari’s midfield. Nandez has picked up two assists in 16 matches for the Italian club this season in all competitions.
The Uruguay international has been a consistent performer at the Sardegna Arena as he is averaging 2.0 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 0.9 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he needs to take care of the ball a bit better when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, based on his pass success rate of 73.7% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Nandez Bring To Leeds United?
Nandez has got a great work rate and is willing to produce a tireless shift for his team. He is a solid tackler of the ball and usually clears his lines when needed. The 49-time Uruguay international is a decent crosser of the ball and has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in the attacking end of the field. However, Nandez needs to retain possession a bit better in the opposition half if he wants to be a success story in Premier League football.
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has to inject some quality in the form of new players soon as the Whites currently find themselves hovering above the relegation zone in the Premier League. Thus, the Uruguayan sensation could be a good acquisition for the Yorkshire club as he is well-equipped to help them move up the league table.
Nandez will be a good fit for Bielsa’s style of play because of his excellent work ethic and wing play. He will bring more energy and dynamism to Leeds’ attack and could help them steer clear of the dreaded drop zone if Bielsa can find a way to bring him to Elland Road this winter.
