In a recent report, The Telegraph claimed that Leeds United are among clubs monitoring Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon. It is believed that the Whites could face competition from Newcastle United, Brighton and Hove Albion and Watford in pursuit of the Welsh talent during the January transfer window.
Rodon’s Growing Frustrations At North London This Season
The 24-year-old has found game time hard to come by at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during this campaign. Rodon has made only six senior appearances for Spurs this season, receiving 403 minutes of game time on all fronts.
The Swansea-born sensation has to find a way to earn more first-team starts so that he can grow as a footballer and fulfill his potential at the highest level. At 24, Rondon’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Whites to pursue this winter.
Should Leeds United Boss Marcelo Bielsa Move In For Rodon?
Standing at 1.93m, Rodon is a towering presence in the air and can win his fair share of aerial duels on the defensive end of the field. He enjoys making a tackle and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.
However, the 22-time Wales international needs to be more accurate when passing the ball out from the back. At the moment, he is in dire need to secure more playing time if he wants to make the most out of his playing career.
Leeds United could be an ideal destination for Rodon as Marcelo Bielsa has the luxury to offer him regular first-team opportunities in the second half of this campaign. He will no doubt increase competition for places within the Whites’ match-day squad. We can expect the Tottenham outcast to add some bite and steel to Bielsa’s defence.
More importantly, Rodon could help the Yorkshire club move up the Premier League table and get out of relegation trouble. Thus, it makes sense for Leeds to move in for the Welsh defensive ace and get him on board either on loan or permanently when the transfer window commences at the start of next year.
