Aston Villa will welcome Burnley at Villa Park this Saturday afternoon as they try to pick up another positive result in the Premier League. The Villans earned an impressive 2-0 win over Norwich City in midweek, so they will be full of confidence ahead of this game.
Steven Gerrard is expected to set his side up in a 4-3-3 formation and could be inclined to make one tweak to his first XI for this clash. Danny Ings will probably get the nod to lead the charge for the West Midlands outfit up top.
4-3-3 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup To Face Burnley
Defence
Emiliano Martinez will operate in goal for the Villans after he kept a clean sheet in his last league appearance. Ezri Konsa will continue to play along with Tyrone Mings at the heart of Gerrard’s defence as they focus on restricting the Clarets from scoring this weekend.
Matty Cash will fill in as the right-back while Matt Targett hopes to give a good account of himself as the left-back. Gerrard will give both his full-backs the freedom to get forward and express themselves in the final third.
Axel Tuanzebe will offer cover for the defensive positions on the Villans’ bench.
Midfield
John McGinn, Douglas Luiz and Jacob Ramsey will make up Aston Villa’s midfield. Their main job would be to dominate the battle at the centre of the park and engineer enough chances for their teammates up top to win this game.
Both Marvelous Nakamba (knee injury) and Morgan Sanson (Covid-19) will be sidelined for this game. However, Carney Chukwuemeka will be fit to start on Gerrard’s bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.
Attack
Watkins could be asked to operate as a left-sided wide player while Emiliano Buendia, who is a significant concern ahead of this game, would hope to put in a good showing down the right flank. Danny Ings will spearhead the Villans’ attack down the middle. We can expect him to be eager to score and make a difference against his old club.
Cameron Archer will make up the numbers on the Aston Villa bench as he waits for his chance to shine as a late-game substitute if needed.
