Arsenal clashed heads with Norwich City at Carrow Road earlier today as they hoped to collect all three points on their travels. The Gunners made a great start to the game and took the lead in the sixth minute courtesy of a calm finish from Bukayo Saka. Kieran Tierney doubled Arsenal’s advantage just before the half-time break when he found the back of the net with a powerful strike. The visitors were winning 2-0 at half-time.
Saka scored again and killed the contest off in the 67th minute before Alexandre Lacazette made it 4-0 after successfully converting his penalty. Emile Smith Rowe came off the bench to net an injury-time goal as the Gunners ended up emerging victorious by a 5-0 scoreline.
Let’s take a look at how each Arsenal player performed during the clash against the Canaries.
GK: Aaron Ramsdale – 7.5/10
The Gunners goalie made a couple of solid saves during the game and earned a well-deserved clean sheet on the road.
RB: Ben White – 7.5/10
White was played out of position but managed to dominate the game as a makeshift right-back. He earned the ball back a couple of times for his side and was strong in the air.
CB: Rob Holding – 7.5/10
The English talent did what was required of him at the back and even made a crucial block to deny the home team a goal. He will be happy with the clean sheet.
CB: Gabriel – 7.5/10
Gabriel cleared the danger when needed and did enough good work defensively to restrict the Norwich attackers from scoring today.
LB: Kieran Tierney – 8/10
The Scottish full-back was solid when defending inside his half and scored a good goal just before the half-time interval to put his team in pole position to secure the win.
CM: Thomas Partey – 7/10
He made two decent runs with the ball and engineered one key chance in the final third. Partey was replaced in the 74th minute.
CM: Granit Xhaka – 7/10
Xhaka managed to create a few inviting opportunities for his teammates to score. He also won a couple of aerial duels.
RW: Bukayo Saka – 9/10
Saka caused all kinds of problems for the opposition defenders because of his excellent running and link-up play. He scored a goal in both halves and deserves to be named the man of the match because of it.
CAM: Martin Odegaard – 8/10
He was always looking to set up some promising openings for others around him and has got two assists to show for his efforts.
LW: Gabriel Martinelli – 7/10
Martinelli threatened the Norwich goal but couldn’t finish off any of his chances. He made a couple of decent runs with the ball down the left wing.
ST: Alexandre Lacazette – 8.5/10
The Frenchman led the charge well for Arsenal and scored his second-half penalty. He also got an assist to his name.
Substitutes:
CM: Mohamed Elneny – 6/10
He added some bite and steel to Mikel Arteta’s midfield.
RW: Nicolas Pepe – 6/10
Pepe struggled to get into the flow of the game.
LW: Emile Smith Rowe – 7/10
He made an instant impact and got his name on the scoresheet (again!) in injury-time.
