According to a recent report by the Tutto Mercato Web, Arsenal are in the race to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the January transfer window. It is believed that Arsenal will rival Newcastle United as both the Premier League clubs are keen on reinforcing their midfield in January, with the French midfielder emerging as an ideal option. Adrien Rabiot has fallen down the pecking order under manager Massimiliano Allegri and is currently struggling at the Italian club. It is believed that the French midfielder has failed to meet the demands of Allegri at Juventus.
Adrien Rabiot Struggling At Juventus
Adrien Rabiot is currently in his third season at Juventus after joining the Italian club in 2019 and is yet to make the same kind of impact that had made top clubs in Europe line up to sign him. The French midfielder has contributed to only six goals and five assists in about 100 games in a Juventus jersey. While he has started 10 Serie A games for the club this season, manager Massimiliano Allegri has been critical of him on more than one occasion. It is believed that the 26-year-old has been lacking the offensive input which is being demanded by his manager.
Arsenal are believed to be monitoring his situation closely and if his struggles continue it will open up an avenue for the Gunners to secure his services. With the World Cup knocking at the door, Rabiot will certainly not think twice before moving to England for regular gametime.
Right Choice For Arteta?
Arsenal certainly lack depth in quality in the middle of the park. The French midfielder will definitely offer some much-needed competition to the likes of Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Albert Sambi-Lokonga. Thomas Partey has had his own struggles adapting to the Premier League and Lokonga is still very young to make an instant impact and hence someone like Rabiot is an ideal choice to bring in and sort out the midfield issues.
Rabiot is a dynamic midfielder who is good with the ball at his feet and very comfortable in possession. He is also physically strong and good in the air which makes him dangerous from deadball situations. He has also shown that he can produce the attacking numbers if given enough freedom and his experience will also be vital in this young Arsenal squad. Although the reports claim that Juventus have no intention of selling the midfielder but it remains to be seen if the situation changes, given Arsenal can meet his asking price.
