Liverpool locked horns with Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this evening as they looked to collect maximum points on their travels. The Reds made a solid start to the game but conceded the opening goal in the 13th minute when Harry Kane scored with a tidy finish. However, Diogo Jota equalised for Liverpool with an excellent header in the 35th minute. Both sides went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.
The Merseyside outfit went on to take the lead in the 69th minute when Andrew Robertson found the back of the net with a solid header from close range. However, Heung-min Son scored the leveler just five minutes after he capitalised on Alisson’s mistake and directed the ball into an empty net. Robertson was sent off in the 77th minute for a poor challenge but the Reds hung on to secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw at North London.
Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player performed during the match against Spurs.
GK: Alisson Becker – 6.5/10
The Brazilian keeper made a few world-class saves to deny Spurs from scoring more than twice. However, he was at fault for conceding Son’s goal in the second half when he made a poor error of judgment to let the Tottenham striker net the equaliser.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 8/10
The English right-back delivered some inviting crosses into the opponent’s penalty box and picked up a good assist for setting up Robertson’s goal. He was solid at the back as well.
CB: Joel Matip – 7/10
The Cameroon international was strong in the air and cleared his lines when needed. He also made two good runs with the ball from the back.
CB: Ibrahima Konate – 6.5/10
Konate lost track of Kane in the lead-up to Tottenham’s opening goal. However, he dealt with the English striker’s threat quite well in the second half.
LB: Andrew Robertson – 7/10
The Scottish full-back set up Liverpool’s first goal with a great cross. He also gave Liverpool the lead in the second half with a controlled header. However, he let his teammates down by getting sent off for a reckless challenge soon after scoring.
CM: Naby Keita – 7.5/10
Keita made a few solid tackles to make life difficult for the home team at the centre of the park. He was also quite lively with the ball at his feet.
CM: Tyler Morton – 6/10
The young midfielder struggled to influence the game in the first half and got replaced in the 59th minute.
CM: James Milner – 7/10
The English midfield ace anchored the midfield with conviction and made two good runs with the ball. He also created a couple of decent chances in the final third.
RW: Mohamed Salah – 6.5/10
Salah engineered some meaningful openings for others around him but there was no goal for him this evening.
ST: Diogo Jota – 7/10
The Portuguese striker scored Liverpool’s equaliser with an excellent header in the first half. However, he struggled to threaten the Tottenham goal in the second.
LW: Sadio Mane – 7/10
Mane was always looking to take on his marker out on the wide areas but lacked the cutting edge in the attacking third of the pitch.
Substitutes:
ST: Roberto Firmino – 6/10
The Brazil international struggled to get into the flow of the game.
LB: Konstantinos Tsimikas – 6/10
Tsimikas offered some width down the left flank.
CB: Joe Gomez – N/A
He hardly had any time to make an impact.
