Manchester City will entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they try to secure maximum points at home. The Mancunian giants suffered a shock 2-1 defeat away at Red Bull Leipzig in midweek, so they will be eager to bounce back in this Premier League clash versus Bruno Lage’s men.
Pep Guardiola could set his team up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a lot of changes to his starting XI for this game. Both Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus will play from the start as Guardiola looks to revert to his strongest line-up for this weekend’s contest versus Wolves.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Ederson will feature in goal for the Mancunian outfit after being rested versus Leipzig in midweek. Aymeric Laporte could get the nod to play alongside Ruben Dias at the centre of Man City’s backline as they focus on securing a clean sheet this weekend.
Kyle Walker can expect to operate at right-back while Joao Cancelo looks to put in a productive performance on the other side as the left-back. Guardiola will give both of them the license to get forward and express themselves in the Wolves half.
Nathan Ake is a major doubt for this game but John Stones should be available for selection on Guardiola’s bench.
Midfield
The Man City midfield could be comprised of Bernardo Silva, Rodri and Illkay Gundogan. Their main responsibility would be to dominate the battle at the centre of the park and create enough goal-scoring chances for their teammates up top.
Silva is currently enjoying the best form of his career, so we can expect him to be a potent goal-threat from midfield. Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho will have to settle for a place on the bench as they wait for their chance to impress in the second half if needed.
Attack
Jack Grealish will function as the left-sided wide player while Gabriel Jesus, who is a slight concern ahead of this game, hopes to catch the eye on the right flank. Raheem Sterling will assume the duties of a makeshift centre-forward following his goal-scoring display versus Watford.
Phil Foden is unlikely to be risked from the start as he is carrying an ankle injury.
