West Ham United faced off against Genk at the Cegeka Arena earlier this evening as they looked to earn a win on the road in the UEFA Europa League group stages. The Hammers made a sloppy start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the fourth minute when Joseph Paintsil found the back of the net for the home team. David Moyes’ men failed to come up with a response in the first half and went into the half-time interval 1-0 down on the scoreline.
The Hammers managed to net the equaliser in the 59th minute when Said Benrahma got his name on the scoresheet. It was Benrahma who scored again in the 82nd minute to give West Ham the lead on the night. However, Genk managed to find a leveler late in the game as Tomas Soucek came off the bench to score an unfortunate own goal. The contest finished with the London outfit being held to a 2-2 draw in the Europa League.
