The Premier League table toppers will host Burnley on Saturday at Stamford Bridge as they hope to make it five wins out of their last five league games. After a solid display in Europe, Tuchel’s team would like to continue their winning streak and lead the Premier League table after 11 gameweeks. The visitors Burnley would also head into this game with confidence after a dominating victory over Brentford last week.
With some key attacking players missing, Thomas Tuchel will again rely upon his fullbacks and midfielders to get the job done this weekend.
Let’s take a look at how Chelsea will lineup vs Burnley on Saturday.
3-4-2-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup Vs Burnley
Defence
Edouard Mendy is the clear choice between the sticks for Tuchel, with the Senegalese in great form and holding the most cleansheets in the league.
It will likely be an unchanged centre-back partnership of Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen. The trio have only conceded 3 goals in the league, out of which 2 have been from the penalty spot. Defensively they have been rock solid and an integral part of Chelsea being top of the table, and they will look to add another cleansheet.
Midfield
N’golo Kante is expected to be back in the starting XI after being rested in the midweek Champions League game vs Malmo. This change will come at the expense of Ruben Loftus Cheek, as Tuchel might look to bring him on later in the game. Jorginho will start beside Kante and look to control the game.
Both Reece James and Ben Chilwell will be back for this clash after being rotated for the midweek clash. With key attackers missing, both the wing-backs have contributed important goals to the team, with James getting a brace vs Newcastle last week and Chilwell scoring 2 in his last 3 games in the league, including a winner against Brentford.
Attack
Mason Mount still hasn’t trained with the squad, and therefore Burnley will come too early for him to get back into the squad. Both Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku being sidelined, Thomas Tuchel is left with limited options to choose from in the attacking department.
The attacking trio of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech are again expected to get the nod with Christian Pulisic on the bench. Pulisic played 15 odd minutes in the midweek game, meaning he’s available for selection. However, as the American is coming back from a long injury, Tuchel will probably ease him into the team and use him from the bench to make an impact later in the game.
