In a recent report, Calciomercato has stated that Newcastle United have made contact for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. It has been mentioned that the Magpies could face competition in the form of Real Madrid in pursuit of the French sensation.
Rabiot’s Solid Season At The Allianz Stadium
Rabiot has made a decent start to this campaign as he has been responsible for performing at a consistent level at the centre of Juve’s midfield. The 22-time France international has participated in 11 matches for the Italian giants this season, picking up one assist in the process across various competitions.
The 26-year-old deserves a pat on the back for averaging 1.1 tackles, 0.9 clearances, 1.1 shots and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 84.1% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
What Will Rabiot Add To Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe’s Team?
Rabiot is a solid tackler of the ball and can clear his lines when his teammates are at risk of being caught out at the back. He doesn’t shy away from having a shot at goal when afforded time and space by the opposition.
The French talent can also make a few tireless runs with the ball towards the opponent’s penalty area. He is a good passer of the ball as well but needs to figure out a way to create more chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.
At 26, Rabiot is currently enjoying the peak years of his playing career, so it makes sense for Newcastle United to engineer a move to bring him to St. James’ Park next year. We can expect the Frenchman to add a lot of quality to Eddie Howe‘s midfield department.
Plus, Rabiot could serve as an upgrade over Sean Longstaff and Jonjo Shelvey at the Tyneside club in the coming seasons. With all things considered, Howe would be wise to try everything in his power to secure the signature of the Juventus midfield ace when the transfer window commences at the start of next year.
