Manchester City welcomed Paris Saint-Germain at the Etihad Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to collect all three points in front of their home supporters. The Mancunian giants dominated the game in the first 45 minutes but couldn’t finish off any of their chances. Both sides went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
PSG began the second half well and made the opening breakthrough via Kylian Mbappe’s excellent finish. However, Man City equalised just 13 minutes later when Raheem Sterling tapped the ball in from close range. Gabriel Jesus stepped up and scored the winning goal for Man City in the 76th minute as Pep Guardiola’s men ended up winning the game by a 2-1 scoreline.
Let’s take a look at how each Man City player fared during the clash against PSG.
GK: Ederson – 6/10
The Brazilian keeper made one save during the game but couldn’t do much to stop Mbappe’s goal when the ball went in between his legs which ruined his hopes of a clean sheet.
RB: Kyle Walker – 6.5/10
He performed his defensive duties well and made one good chance in the final third.
CB: Ruben Dias – 6/10
Dias made a solid block at the back and was quite tidy with his passing. However, he won’t be happy after conceding a goal so early in the second half.
CB: John Stones – 6/10
He looked a bit shaky inside his half at times but did enough to restrict the opposition to just one goal.
LB: Joao Cancelo – 7.5/10
Cancelo won the ball back quite a few times for his side and even made two encouraging runs with the ball down the left flank.
CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 7/10
Gundogan controlled the game well in midfield and created two key chances in the attacking end of the field. He was also quite clever when making runs with the ball but there was no goal for him tonight.
CM: Rodri – 6.5/10
The Spaniard was strong in the air and kept possession ticking with ease at the centre of the park.
CM: Oleksandr Zinchenko – 6/10
He had a few lively moments in the final third but could last only 53 minutes.
RW: Riyad Mahrez – 8/10
Mahrez caused all kinds of problems for the PSG defenders and was quite unfortunate not to score tonight. He just about deserves the man of the match award.
ST: Raheem Sterling – 7.5/10
The English attacker was there in the right place at the right time to direct the ball in from close range which leveled the scoreline in the 63rd minute. He also created a few inviting opportunities for others around him.
LW: Bernardo Silva – 7.5/10
The Portuguese winger was always looking to make openings for his teammates and ended the game with an assist to his name.
Substitutes:
ST: Gabriel Jesus – 7/10
The Brazilian striker came off the bench to net the winning goal for Man City in the 76th minute.
