In a recent report by the Mirror, Manchester City have targeted RB Leipzig striker Hwang Hee-chan, who is currently on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves are trying their best to make the move permanent before the top clubs like Manchester City lure him away. It is believed that Wolves are desperate to exercise their option to buy the player permanently from the German club.
Hwang Hee-chan’s Impressive Start In The Premier League
The young striker joined RB Leipzig in the summer of 2020 but failed to make a mark for the German club ahead of the likes of Emil Forsberg, Christopher Nkunku and Dani Olmo. As a result, he was moved out on loan to the English club Wolverhampton Wanderers at the start of the new season this year. However the South Korean international has looked a different player in the Premier League, having already netted four goals in just eight appearances so far.
His impressive performances have caught the eyes of the Premier League champions as they are interested to sign him ahead of Wolves who have an option to buy the player at the end of the loan term. It remains to be seen now if Wolves can convince the player to stay with them after interests from Pep’s Manchester City.
Right Choice For Pep Guardiola?
Manchester City are looking to add to their attacking prowess with Raheem Sterling linked with a move away from the club. City was already in for a striker last summer but didn’t buy one with Pep going for a false nine system this year. It is believed that they are looking for a striker to add to their attacking unit for Pep to have multiple options in that department.
Hwang has already shown his quality in the Wolves team with him scoring on his debut for the club. He later scored a brace and another in their next 3 games. Hwang Hee-chan has the ability in him to succeed at Manchester City, as he is clinical, has great pace and positioning sense and can also take on defenders when needed. His versatility is the key as he can play multiple positions in the front three.
Since the South Korean’s loan move doesn’t expire till the season ends, hence it won’t be surprising if Wolves do manage to make the move permanent considering Hwang Hee-chan won’t be able to get regular minutes at the Etihad. Now it remains to be seen if Manchester City can convince him to join them next summer.
