In a recent report, Leeds Live has mentioned that Leeds United youngster Joe Gelhardt has suffered an unknown injury. It has been claimed that the English striker has picked up an injury that has seen him withdraw from England’s Under-20s squad for their upcoming match versus Portugal.
Gelhardt’s Impressive Spell At Elland Road Thus Far
The Liverpool-born talent has been in red hot form in the Premier League 2 where he has found the back of the net on six goals and grabbed one assist in seven appearances this season. His incredible performances for Leeds‘ Under-23 team didn’t go unnoticed as Marcelo Bielsa gave him four senior starts during this campaign. Gelhardt repaid his manager’s faith by picking up one assist for the Whites so far.
Hence, the 19-year-old’s recent injury will be a bitter pill to swallow for anyone associated with the West Yorkshire club. Still, there is no denying that Gelhardt is a promising young forward who could play a major role for the Whites once he returns from his injury.
Gelhardt Picks Up An Unknown Injury: Massive Blow For Leeds United?
Gelhardt has decent pace under his belt that allows him to make some quick dashes in the final third. He is usually a composed finisher in front of the opposition goal but is yet to truly prove himself in top-flight football.
The English sensation has put in a couple of impressive displays off the bench but there are some question marks over whether he would be able to lead the line for the Yorkshire giants in Premier League week in week out.
Either way, Gelhardt’s injury absence will be a big blow for the Whites as it could hamper the young striker’s progress at Elland Road. Bielsa would now be hoping for his speedy return so that he can once again use his services as a substitute in the remainder of this campaign.
