Leeds United welcomed Crystal Palace at Elland Road earlier tonight as they looked to earn a positive result in front of their home fans. Both sides fought tooth and nail in the first half but couldn’t make the decisive breakthrough as they went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
It was a similar story in the second 45 minutes as the home team struggled to test the opposition keeper. However, the West Yorkshire outfit got a penalty in injury-time which Raphinha successfully scored to bag all three points from this Premier League clash. The match ended with 1-0 in favour of Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
Let’s take a look at how each Leeds United player performed during the match against the Eagles.
GK: Illan Meslier – 6.5/10
The Whites goalie made just one solid save in the game and secured an easy clean sheet tonight.
RB: Stuart Dallas – 7.5/10
Dallas was defensively resolute as he made a few important interceptions to keep the opposition at bay. He even had a couple of bright moments in the final third.
CB: Diego Llorente – 7/10
The Spaniard won the ball back a couple of times but didn’t take too many risks with his clearances.
CB: Liam Cooper – 7.5/10
He was a rock at the back after winning a lot of 50-50 aerial duels inside his half. Cooper even performed his defensive duties well.
LB: Pascal Struijk – 6.5/10
Struijk was defensively solid but failed to influence the game in the final third. He got replaced at half-time.
CDM: Kalvin Phillips – 7/10
Phillips did all the defensive dirty work for Leeds in midfield. He even had a couple of shot attempts.
RM: Raphinha – 7/10
The Brazilian wing wizard caused a few problems for the Palace defenders. He kept his calm to convert his penalty in injury-time which ensured Leeds’ win tonight.
CM: Adam Forshaw – 7/10
Forshaw anchored the midfield with a lot of conviction. He was always willing to have a strike at goal.
CM: Mateusz Klich – 6/10
Klich failed to give a good account of himself in the first half and got replaced at half-time.
LM: Daniel James – 7/10
The Welsh winger was always willing to help his teammates out defensively when required. He was also a constant menace in the opponent’s half.
ST: Tyler Roberts – 7/10
