In a recent report, Gianluca Dimarzio claimed that Arsenal are prepared to seal a move for Fiorentina frontman Dusan Vlahovic. It is understood that the Gunners are willing to pay €80m to acquire the Serbian striker’s services but are yet to agree on a deal with the player.
Vlahovic’s Excellent Run Of Form In Italian Football
Vlahovic has made an electric start to this campaign after putting in a run of productive performances as the spearhead of Fiorentina’s attack. The 21-year-old has found the back of the net on ten occasions and grabbed one assist in 12 matches for the Italian club last season in all competitions.
The Belgrad-born centre-forward has given a good account of himself in the attacking end of the pitch as he averaged 3.3 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A football. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play in the final third, based on his pass completion rate of 71.8% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
What Will Vlahovic Bring To The Emirates Stadium?
Vlahovic has shown this season that he can get into some dangerous areas in the final third. He has got the intelligence to create a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in on-target. The Serbian youngster is a composed finisher in front of the opponent’s goal but as mentioned earlier, he has sometimes given away the ball cheaply at times which he needs to rectify if he wants to be a success story in Premier League football.
With both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang edging closer towards the end of their Arsenal careers, it makes sense for Mikel Arteta to splash the cash on a young and talented forward who would be able to take the responsibility of leading the line for the Gunners week in week out in the Premier League.
Hence, Vlahovic could be a good fit for the North London giants as he will bring plenty of goals to Arteta‘s frontline. He will undoubtedly improve the overall depth of Arsenal’s match-day squad and has got the potential to help them compete for a major trophy in the coming seasons.
