In a recent report, Calciomercato claimed that Arsenal are among several clubs hoping to land Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski. It has been mentioned that the Gunners could face competition in the form of Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of the Swedish wide player.
Kulusevski’s Sporadic Role In Italian Football This Season
Kulusevski has served as a decent squad player at the Allianz Stadium but has failed to find consistency for Juve in Italian football. The 21-year-old has registered one goal and one assist in 17 matches for the Italian outfit this season on all fronts.
Most of the Swedish talent’s appearances have come off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.8 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has even been decent when distributing the ball in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 80.9% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
Is Kulusevski The Right Choice For Arsenal?
Kulusevski has decent pace under his belt and can make some promising runs with the ball out on the wide areas. He can set up a few inviting chances for others around him and is also a tidy finisher in front of the opposition goal when he is playing regularly and with confidence in top-flight football.
At the moment, the Swede is finding it difficult to get regular first-team starts, so it makes sense for him to switch clubs in search of greener pastures. Arsenal could be a good destination for him if Mikel Arteta is willing to offer him regular playing minutes in English football.
At 21, Kulusevski has got the potential to make a real name for himself at the highest level which makes him a decent choice for the Gunners to pursue next year. He could bring some goals and assists to Arteta’s frontline and will no doubt increase competition for places within his match-day squad. Thus, Arsenal would be wise to go all out to bring Kulusevski to the Emirates Stadium this January or at the end of this campaign.
