West Ham United will clash heads with Genk at the Luminus Arena on Thursday evening as they try to secure another positive result on their travels. The Hammers managed to secure an impressive 4-1 win over Aston Villa last weekend which will give them a lot of confidence ahead of this midweek clash in the UEFA Europa League group stages.
David Moyes will probably opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a few changes to his starting XI for this game. Both Craig Dawson and Issa Diop could play from the start as Moyes looks to rotate his backline for this game. On a positive note, there are no new injuries for West Ham to cope with this week.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Genk
Defence
Alphonse Areola will feature in between the sticks for the East London club after he kept a clean sheet versus Manchester City in his last outing. As mentioned earlier, Craig Dawson will function along with Issa Diop at the heart of the West Ham backline as they try to keep the Genk attackers frustrated over the 90 minutes.
Ben Johnson has enjoyed a good run of form of late, so he will continue at right-back while Aaron Cresswell fills in on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and join in on the attack.
Kurt Zouma will offer cover for the centre-back spots on the Hammers bench.
Midfield
Declan Rice will anchor the midfield along with Tomas Soucek as they focus on establishing their dominance over the opposition at the centre of the park. The gifted trio of Nikola Vlasic, Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko will operate just ahead of them as part of Moyes’ attack.
The Hammers boss will ask his midfielders to enjoy more of the ball and create enough goal-scoring chances for the Hammers to win this European game on the road. Mark Noble will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
Jarrod Bowen might get another chance to impress as a makeshift centre-forward. He will try to use his pace to cause a lot of problems for the Genk defenders throughout the game.
