Tottenham Hotspur will entertain Vitesse at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night as they try to collect all three points at home. Spurs suffered a dismal 3-0 loss at the hands of Manchester United last weekend which has drained their confidence and led to Nuno Espirito Santo’s sacking earlier this week.
The North London outfit set themselves up in a 3-5-2 formation and is expected to make a few changes to their first team for this game. Pierluigi Gollini and Joe Rodon could both play from the start in this European clash in midweek.
3-5-2 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Vitesse
Defence
Pierluigi Gollini will operate in between the sticks for Spurs after he bagged a clean sheet against Burnley in his last appearance. Tottenham could lineup with a back three of Joe Rodon, Cristian Romero and Japhet Tanganga for this clash at home. All three of them will have to defend well if they are to stop the Vitesse attackers from finding the back of the net during the 90 minutes.
Eric Dier will offer cover for the centre-back positions on the bench.
Midfield
Dele Alli, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Oliver Skipp will function as the central midfielders for Spurs. Their focus would be to dominate the ball and engineer some clear-cut chances in the opposition half.
Sergio Reguilon will function as the left-sided wing-back while Matt Doherty hopes to put on a hard-working performance on the right flank. Both Reguilon and Doherty will be given the responsibility to stretch the Vitesse backline out on the wide areas so that they can create enough space for the front players.
Harry Winks will probably have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Harry Kane will play alongside Lucas Moura up top. Both of them will get the license to lead the charge for Spurs in the final third. Kane needs a goal to boost his confidence as he has looked far from convincing with his performances for Tottenham this season.
Heung-min Son will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come to influence the game in the final quarter of the game if the North London giants are in need of a goal by then.
