In a recent report, Fichajes has revealed that West Ham United are keeping tabs on Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic’s situation. It is understood that the Hammers could face competition in the form of Everton and other Premier League clubs in pursuit of the Croatia international.
Perisic’s Up And Down Season At San Siro So Far
The 32-year-old has made a slow start to this campaign after struggling to be consistent with his productivity in the final third. Perisic has just found the back of the net twice and grabbed one assist in 11 matches for the Italian giants last season on all fronts.
The Split-born talent has worked hard for Inter at both ends of the field as he is averaging 1.0 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.1 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has been a bit sloppy when distributing the ball in the opposition half, based on his pass completion rate of 73.2% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Perisic The Right Choice For West Ham United?
Perisic has a wealth of experience at the highest level and can still put in a few eye-catching displays down the left wing. He is proficient at getting himself into some dangerous areas in and around the opponent’s penalty box and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the attacking end of the pitch. Perisic is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a centre-forward if needed.
At 32, father time is catching up with the Croatia international, but the Hammers can still benefit from signing someone of his experience so that they can win a major trophy in the coming seasons. We can expect Perisic to add some goals and creativity to David Moyes‘ frontline.
Plus, the Croat sensation can rival the likes of Pablo Fornals, Said Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio in the race to earn a regular starting berth in West Ham‘s first XI. With all things considered, Perisic will be a good choice for the East London outfit in the short term. However, Moyes will be better off looking elsewhere if he is planning to build a strong squad for the long run as the Inter star has only got a few good years left in him to play at the highest level.
