In a recent report, Birmingham Live offered an update on Aston Villa’s pursuit of Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah. It is understood that the Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is eager to keep hold of the player with the Villans as well as Brentford and Leeds United showing interest in acquiring the English forward.
Nketiah’s Decent Run Of Form In The League Cup
The 22-year-old has played a bit-part role at the Emirates Stadium but has caught the eye with his performances in the EFL Cup this season. Nketiah has banged in two goals in two matches for the North London outfit so far.
The London-born showed some glimpses of his potential by averaging 4.0 shots, 0.5 crosses and 1.0 dribbles per game in the League Cup. He has even been tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 80.8% of his attempted passes in domestic football (stats via whoscored).

Should Aston Villa Boss Dean Smith Step Up His Efforts For Nketiah?
Nketiah is a quick and agile forward who can pull off some well-timed runs in behind the opponent’s backline. He excels at creating a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. The English forward has also got a good leap in him that allows him to win some important aerial duels for his team in the attacking third of the field. He is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if needed which makes him a good squad player for Aston Villa to pursue next year.
At 22, Nketiah is in for a bright future in English football as long as he can ensure regular game time on the field. The Gunners forward can benefit from sealing a move to the West Midlands club where he could play a more prominent role in the coming seasons.
Dean Smith could be the ideal manager to oversee his development and get the best out of him over the next few years. Hence, it makes sense for the Villans boss to step up his pursuit to land Nketiah for a cut-price fee in January or when he becomes a free agent at the end of this campaign.
