Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this evening as they hoped to pick up a win in front of their home supporters. Spurs made an unconvincing start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the 39th minute when Cristiano Ronaldo scored with a great volley. Nuno Espirito Santo’s players failed to come up with an immediate response and went into the half-time break one goal down on the scoreline.
Spurs were poor in the second half and shipped in their second goal after the hour mark as Edinson Cavani scored with a tidy finish. Marcus Rashford put the icing on the cake for Man United when he scored in the 86th minute as the North London giants crashed to a dismal 3-0 defeat at home.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham player performed during the clash against the Red Devils.
GK: Hugo Lloris – 5.5/10
The French keeper made just one save in the game but won’t be pleased after allowing three poor goals this evening.
RB: Emerson Royal – 7/10
He showed some heart under pressure and defended valiantly inside his half. Emerson also made some driving runs with the ball down the right flank.
CB: Cristian Romero – 6/10
Romero made a couple of interceptions during the game but was nowhere near good enough to stop the Man United attackers from wreaking havoc in front of his goal.
CB: Eric Dier – 5/10
He was strong in the air but was too slow to react to the danger on the defensive end of the field.
LB: Ben Davies – 5.5/10
He won his fair share of aerial duels but was too weak defensively. It was a forgettable performance from him.
CM: Oliver Skipp – 5.5/10
The English midfield ace struggled to get a foothold in the game and got replaced after the hour mark.
CM: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg – 6/10
Hojbjerg showed some fight at the centre of the park but it was not enough to restrict the opposition from scoring three times during the 90 minutes.
RW: Lucas Moura – 7.5/10
The Brazilian talent made multiple runs with the ball and orchestrated two key opportunities in the final third. He got substituted in the 53rd minute.
CAM: Giovani Lo Celso – 7/10
The Argentine playmaker was always willing to run with the ball and made one good chance in the final third.
LW: Heung-min Son – 6/10
The South Korean attacker tried to make things happen but was lacklustre in the final third.
ST: Harry Kane – 6/10
Kane linked up play well at times but offered very little inside the Man United penalty box.
Substitutes:
RW: Steven Bergwijn – 6/10
He didn’t get a sniff at goal.
CM: Tanguy Ndombele – 6/10
Ndombele passed the ball quite well.
CAM: Dele Alli – 6/10
The English sensation was sloppy on the ball.
