If a report from Marca is believed to be true, Real Madrid have set their sights on Monaco midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni over a potential move in the forthcoming future. The rising sensation of French football enjoyed a breakthrough 2020-21 season for the Monégasques. He has continued his excellence this term and therefore, grabbed the attention of many including the La Liga hotshots.
The 21-year-old Les Bleus international progressed through the youth ranks of Bordeaux before earning a senior status back in 2018. He went on to make 37 senior appearances for the League One outfit and his ability to control the midfield game led to a high-profile Monaco transfer in January 2020.
The youngster, so far, has featured 60 times for the Red and Whites across competitions. He has exhibited his mastery as a deep-lying playmaker, and also as a double pivot in the middle of the park. Tchouaméni has also been deployed as a ‘number 8’, but his ability to win duels, break down attacking moves and sharp tackling traits make him one of the most highly-rated prospects in Europe.
The Blancos are aiming for a resurgence under Carlo Ancelotti who succeeded Zinedine Zidane after an underwhelming 2020-21 campaign. They roped in Eduardo Camavinga during the summer window to bolster their midfield, but the lack of physicality depicts the necessity of further reinforcements in due time.
Why Real Madrid Would Be Benefitted From The Tchouaméni Move
Although they have Casemiro marshalling the ‘back four’ in the middle of the park, both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are more effective as orchestrators. They are not as workaholics as the modern-day midfielders who offer more flexibility, dynamicity and work rate at the centre of the pitch. Both Modric and Kroos have been second to none in their respective positions for more than a decade, however, it’s time to move on for the Spanish giants as the game has evolved drastically of late.
Alongside Camavinga, Federico Valverde is rated highly for his dribbling, tackling and intercepting attributes. They are touted to replace the ageing stars in the long run but, at the same time, need someone to challenge and cover Casemiro in the ‘number 6’ spot. Tchouaméni would be a perfect fit for his energy and strength, whereas the skills, finesse and prowess he holds signify his all-around ability from a central role.
While it would be outrageous if they successfully tie down both Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba next summer on Bosman transfers, the club must opt for the French prodigy and splash the cash in order to restore their supremacy for years to come.
