High-flying Celtic were on a mission to avenge their defeat against Livingston in the reverse fixture. Although the Hoops were outright favourites to grab all three points, it ended in frustration for Ange Postecoglou’s men who failed to break the deadlock despite dominating the game all throughout the afternoon.
Below are the Celtic players rated in their frustrating 0-0 draw against Livingston.
Joe Hart: 6.5
Did not have to make one single stop as the visitors were low block and focused on defending deep. A clean sheet for the custodian nevertheless.
Anthony Ralston: 8
Relentless with his runs, link-up play and cut insides from the right-hand flank. Got denied by Maksymilian Stryjek in Livi goal and the lack of conversion upfront made his crosses look average.
Cameron Carter-Vickers: 8
Did his job in terms of playing it out from the back. Was rarely troubled by the away side and hardly had to make tackles or clearances from the heart of the defensive line.
Carl Starfelt: 7.5
Starfelt, too, enjoyed his time on the pitch with little pressure from David Martindale’s team. But it did not end as he had hoped for following a hamstring strain picked up around the hour mark. Kyogo Furuhashi was brought in to replace the Swedish centre-half.
Josip Juranovic: 7
Nothing exceptional from the Croatian apart from making some decent overlapping runs, crosses and dribbles. Lively from the left-hand flank but was not able to make much of a difference either.
Nir Bitton: 6
Started in a deep-lying midfield role. Should have worked harder in terms of carrying the ball forward and injecting some pace from the middle of the park. Shifted deeper following Starfelt’s forced exit.
Callum McGregor: 6.5
Created a few chances from midfield as he tried to mix the passes and break down Livi’s defensive resilience with through balls and one-twos.
David Turnbull: 7.5
Tried his best to find the net. Not only offered directness with his movements but also linked up well with his teammates. Whipped in crosses, made late runs inside the box but was well contained by the visitors.
Liel Abada: 6
Lost his place recently but was handed a start down the right-hand flank to reclaim his starting status. The young Israel international disappoints apart from a few promising moves in and around the attacking third. Was taken off around the hour mark and got replaced by Mikey Johnston.
Filipe Jota: 7
Caused menace in the opponents’ defensive half with successful dribbling attempts, crosses and swift footwork. Ran out of ideas eventually and was taken off to make way for James Forrest.
Giorgos Giakoumakis: 5
An afternoon to forget for the Greece international. Failed to read the long balls and crosses, also wasted an opportunity from the spot in the closing moments.
Celtic Subs Vs Livingston
Kyogo Furuhashi: 7
Did his best to break the deadlock, also earned a penalty late in the match. But the spot-kick of Giakoumakis was saved by Stryjek.
Mikey Johnston: 6.5
Had a positive impact since coming on replacing Abada. More gametime to come for the Scotsman in the coming days.
James Forrest: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
