Newcastle United will play hosts to Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon as they look to grind out a result at home. The Magpies suffered a 2-1 loss against Wolverhampton Wanderers before the international break. Thus, we can expect them to be eager to produce a good performance versus Spurs this weekend.
The Tyneside outfit will set themselves up in a 4-3-3 formation and could be unchanged for this clash at home. We can once again expect Allan Saint-Maximin to lead the charge for the Magpies up top as Callum Wilson is unlikely to be risked from the start.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Karl Darlow will feature in goal for the Tyneside giants after he shipped in two goals against Wolves in his last Premier League outing. Federico Fernandez and Ciaran Clark will function as the centre-halves as they try to stop Tottenham’s Harry Kane from finding the back of the net during the 90 minutes.
Matt Ritchie will continue to fill in as a left-back while Javier Manquillo hopes to catch the eye at right-back. Both of them will have to find a way to make an impact in the Tottenham half. Martin Dubravka and Paul Dummett won’t be ready in time to play a part in this game, but Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth will definitely make up the numbers on the bench.
Midfield
The Magpies midfield will be comprised of Sean Longstaff, Isaac Hayden and Joe Willock as they focus on making life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. All three of them will also have to figure out a way to create some meaningful openings in the Tottenham half.
Jeff Hendrick will be available for selection on the Newcastle bench as he waits for his chance to impress in the second half if required.
Attack
Joelinton will once again operate as the left-sided wide player while Miguel Almiron hopes to use his quickness to get in behind the Spurs backline from the right. Allan Saint-Maximin will be a nailed-on starter as Newcastle United‘s primary centre-forward.
Dwight Gayle and Callum Wilson might have to be content with a place on the bench but could on to influence the game in the latter stages if needed. Wilson has been out of action since August when he picked up a thigh injury but should be available for this Sunday’s home encounter against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.
